Initial Impressions

My initial impression of Delft is that, despite the density of this city, it is extremally quite, calm, and easy to get around. Buildings and architecture that are older than the United States surround you as you follow red brick paths throughout the city. Even when bike paths become crowded during a rush hour, the pressure is much less than that of driving as there is not major inherent risk or dangerous results that result from an accidental collision. The worst one could suffer would be a bruise and some embarrassment. In contrast to driving, where a collision can result in major financial responsibility or death, biking takes the unnecessary stress away. This is particularly true when visiting a foreign country where someone might not know traffic laws.

The city is very beautiful and the push to incorporate more green space is much appreciated. The canals as well are very pleasant to simply be around. The water ways and green landscaping help breakup the stone nature of the city, making everything feel as though nature has not been completely removed, that you are not necessarily deep within a brick and stone constructed maze.
